Implementation of the National SAR performed in accordance with international laws and regulations as follows:
1. International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), 1974
2. UNCLOS-82 which was ratified by Law no. 17th, 1985, Indonesia received and recognized as an island nation that has the inland sea, but Indonesia must provide international sea lane.
3. "International Aviation and Maritime Search and Rescue (IAMSAR)", ICAO / IMO, 1998.
4. "Search and Rescue", the International Civil Aviation Organization, Annex 12, 2000
In addition, currently Basarnas are working to ratify the International Convention on Maritime SAR in 1979 to improve standards and the implementation of the SAR to the calamity that occurred in Indonesian waters.
